Feasibility and Technical Scoping Study

Project Description

The Carrickmacross to Dundalk Greenway project is a proposed 20km off‐road route. The proposed greenway will generally follow the original line of the 19th century Great Northern Railway spur between Carrickmacross in County Monaghan and Dundalk in County Louth. At the historic village of Iniskeen, located halfway along the proposed route, the Greenway would provide access to village amenities and a number of heritage sites, including the Patrick Kavanagh Centre.

Service Provided

CCC carried out a Feasibility and Technical Scoping Study, which included an ecological assessment, to provide Monaghan County Council with sufficient information to adequately develop a comprehensive design brief for the subsequent phases of the project. Deliverables provided included a comprehensive constraints study, development and assessment of potential route options and the provision of advise on procurement options for subsequent phases of the design.
