Project Description
The Luas Cross City project is a 5.6km light rail line which will see Dublin’s ‘Luas Green Line’ extended northwards from St. Stephen’s Green to an existing rail station on the western rail line at Broombridge. The scheme, which includes the provision of 13 new Luas stops as well as all associated track works and catenary, was awarded to Sisk Steconfer Joint Venture (SSJV) in 2015 and is expected to cater for an additional 10 million passenger journeys per annum.
Service Provided
CCC were appointed as Design Coordinators, Environmental Coordinator and to undertake Construction Supervision. The design coordination role involved the management of the design team, provision of design review and optimisation services, supervision of the certification process and liaison with project stakeholders, including Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Dublin City Council. The Environmental Coordinator role involved developing the Contractor’s Environmental Management Plan, the supervision of the works to ensure compliance with the CEMP, ensuring the necessary permits and licenses were in place and the monitoring and auditing of environmental alerts.
Notable Achievements
Notable achievements on this project included the design coordination of the ‘Red Line Tie-In’, the development of a bespoke track slab solution for O’Connell Bridge and the development and implementation of the Japanese Knotweed Management Plan to cater for the discovery of the invasive species in the off-street areas.
